Song of the week – part 8

New Sunday, new song of the week. Let’s get right into it!

Manon: Despite the fact that I went to see Sleeping With Sirens yesterday (which is something I don’t recommend, by the way), this is the song that has been stuck in my head for most of the week. The lyrics give me chills every time, and it’s such a powerful song — I love it! I already can’t wait to see them on Graspop this year, which will be my third time seeing them. Until then, I will find myself replaying their songs over and over again. “Hey Death, get fucked!!

Alexandra: This week I re-discovered an old favourite of mine. I haven’t listened to this track in a long time but upon finding it again I could not stop abusing the repeat button...

Song of the week – part 7

Here we are again, new year, new songs of the week! Let’s dive right in and don’t forget to leave us a comment with your song of the week!

Alexandra: Although Manon wrote that Avantasia review, once the album came out I had one song on repeat: the 12 minute masterpiece featuring Jorn Lande. I’m a huge sucker for looong metal opera/symphonic metal tracks with beautiful melodic parts and this one is right up my alley. If you’re like me you’re definitely going to find great fun and inspiration in listening to this track!

Manon: Probably to the surprise of many, I haven’t picked an Avantasia song for this week’s entry. Even though the album has been playing on repeat lately, the song that I have listened to most this week is certainly ‘That Fire’ by ‘Black Tide’...

Song of the week – part 6

New week, and today marks the 6th time we will be doing Song of the week, our section released every Sunday with one song recommendation from each of us, based on what has been on repeat this week in our playlist. Here we go!

Manon: Last week I’ve been to the Bring Me The Horizon concert, which was one of the best concerts I’ve seen in a long time. One of their support acts was Beartooth, a band I had heard from before, but never really paid much attention to their stuff. Now, it has become one of my favorite bands. I have picked the song Beaten In Lips for this week’s song, as it had been stuck in my head for days! It can be a heavy song for some, thanks to the lyrics, but they also bring truth with them...

Song of the week – part 5

This article has been gone for a couple of weeks due to other things that got priority in being posted, but we’re back with recommending some cool stuff for your ears!

Manon: This week’s pick is surely a song by Bring Me The Horizon, in preparation to the concert I’ll be going to on the 21st. BMTH has been on repeat this week, and a song that I’ve been listening to a LOT (besides their newest album ‘That’s The Spirit’) has been ‘Alligator Blood’. It’s one of their older songs, but one of their strongest ones as well in my opinion. This song made waiting for the concert a lot more bearable! I hope you’ll take the time to check it out, because Bring Me The Horizon was and still is an amazing band!

Alexandra: For me this week was filled with a lot of academic studying, which is usually whe...

Song of the week – part 4

It’s our fourth ‘Song of the Week’ instalment and I think we both still have a ton of music to show to you guys, so here we go!

Manon: My pick for this week goes out to ‘The Drug In Me Is You’ by Falling In Reverse. This song is one of their first songs, but still one of my favorites. Though, I must say I absolutely love their new stuff as well, even though it has gained a lot of negative comments. Still, their songs give me quite a lot of inspiration, and make me sing along loudly. ‘The Drug In Me Is You’ is surely one of those songs!

Alexandra: While Manon’s song is more on the fun side, mine is a bit (okay a bit more) melancholical. I’ve seen Moonspell live this past wednesday (pics soon!) and this song just stuck to me...

It’s part 3 of ‘Song of the week’! This time it will only be Manon’s pick, but it’s a song we both greatly enjoy! As before, we’d love to hear in the comments what tracks have gotten you through the week!

This week’s pick goes out to Avatar with ‘Vultures Fly‘. I’ve had this track on repeat for quite a while this week, and it simply never grows old. It’s one of my favorites off of the latest album, and certainly also a favorite of mine to see live. I have seen them three times now, but they never fail to amaze me. This song is a little less heavy than their other tracks, but that doesn’t make me like it any less. Enjoy the song, and please, check out more from these guys!

Song of the week – part 2

It’s part 2 of our ‘Song of the week’ choices and, as before, we’d love to hear in the comments what you think of our picks and what songs have been on repeat with you this week!

Manon’s pick(and a favourite of both of us):

This week I’ve been taking a trip down memory lane mostly, as I was listening to tracks from the 80’s and 90’s, together with bands that I used to listen to about six years ago. Yet, the one song that made me dance and sing along, and instantly put me in a better mood, was ‘Lavatory Love Machine’ by Edguy. It was the first song I had ever heard by them, back in the day, and from that moment I was hooked. So please, enjoy this rather comical track, and perhaps you’ll get hooked as well!

Alexandra’s pick:

This week my playlist has mostly been on shuffle...

Song of the week – part 1

Category: Song of the week Comments: No comments

While brainstorming about what kind of new articles to bring to the readers of this webzine, a topic called ‘Song of the week’ seemed very appealing! This way, we can introduce you to some new music and we’d love to hear from you in the comments as to what your favourite song of the week has been! So from now on, every Sunday, me and my co-writer Manon will pick two tracks that we really enjoyed during this week!

Manon’s pick:

The song that has been stuck on repeat a lot this week was one by Powerwolf. I haven’t listened much to their newest album yet, but the one track that spiked my interest was surely ‘Armata Strigoi’. To me, it sounds different than the other songs on the album, and different from what they have done in the past as well...
