Brainstorm

Following up on the success of 2014’s “Firesoul” album, German power metallers BRAINSTORM didn’t waste any time to enter the studio and record a brand new masterpiece which is titled “Scary Creatures”and will hit the stores on January 15th 2016. The band continues where they left off one and a half years ago with the previous release and also mix and mastering was once again handled by Achim Koehler. But right away you feel that “Scary Creatures” is just that notch better than “Firesoul”, more anthemic, heavy and all musicians plus vocalist Andy B. Franck delivering to the max...

Alexa Leroux(Shear) – Wild spirit, liberated by rock’n’roll

Category: ArticlesInterviews Comments: No comments

Model: Alexa Leroux. Location: Helsinki, Finland. Photo: Terhi Ylimäinen

Alexa from Shear surprised me as being the most talkative Finn I’ve ever had the pleasure to discuss with. It must be that her half Ecuadorian roots were showing in our conversation. That is a good thing, it allowed me to get to know her better and I discovered a very lovely and easy to talk to person, apart from her having an absolutely killer voice! I’ll let you read all about her below and feel free to also check out the link with my favourite song from Shear which will be posted under the interview.

Alexandra: I understood you joined the band last in 2008. How did you get picked and how has the experience been so far with Shear?

Alexa: Well, I was living in Stockholm before 2008 because I was studying there, and when I came back to Finland I had a few friends in the metal scene...

MEGAHERZ unveil details for upcoming EP ‘Erdwärts’!

Category: ArticlesNews Comments: No comments

Megaherz

Zombieland, the latest studio album by Germans MEGAHERZ, is still haunting our auditory canals, and the five piece has already been busy working on fresh shenanigans: “Look forward to the new MEGAHERZ shredfest!” The band announced their new EP Erdwärts – set to be releases on December 4th on Napalm Records! There are four new and very varied songs on this EP: two of them feature pure riff-laden heaviness, mid-tempo classic one and a slow and broody track that will be the talk of the town. On top of that and just like with Götterdämmerung and Zombieland, two MEGAHERZ classics were re-recorded – fans can now enjoy new versions of faves including ‘Teufel‘ and ‘Jordan‘.

Lyric wise, fear is at the heart of it all: fear of the unknown and fear of a world that seems chaotic...

Birk and Kris (Junkyard Drive) – Upcoming Rock ‘n Roll

Category: ArticlesInterviews Comments: No comments

Junkyard Drive (© Junkyard Drive Official Facebook page}

I’ve had a great opportunity to hold an interview with Birk (on the left) and Kris (on the right) from the band Junkyard Drive! This upcoming Old School Rock ‘n Roll band from Denmark caught my eye (or should I say ears) when I saw them at the Heavy Metal Maniacs festival a while ago, but little was known about them. This interview will tell you more about these young rockers, about their influences and their future plans!

Manon: So, to start things off. Could you tell us a little bit about yourself? Who are you, how old are you, where do you come from and such?

Birk & Kris: We are a band from Roskilde, Denmark (you know the festival right?). We started back in the spring of 2014, and had our first show in September 2014. JD is a band of 5 members including:
Kris – Lead Vocal
Birk ...

Moonspell @ Lutakko, Jyvaskyla – 04.11.2015

Category: ArticlesConcert Photography Comments: No comments

On Wednesday I had the pleasure to go photograph the Moonspell gig in Lutakko. They performed with 2 opening acts: Jaded Star from Greece and Dagoba from France. I enjoyed the whole evening and it made perfect sense why those two bands were opening for Moonspell as they both had elements that the Portuguese include in their music as well. I did feel a bit bad for the bands because there weren’t a lot of people in the audience, but I still managed to snap some awesome photos!

Song of the week – part 4

Category: ArticlesSong of the week Comments: No comments

It’s our fourth ‘Song of the Week’ instalment and I think we both still have a ton of music to show to you guys, so here we go!

Manon: My pick for this week goes out to ‘The Drug In Me Is You’ by Falling In Reverse. This song is one of their first songs, but still one of my favorites. Though, I must say I absolutely love their new stuff as well, even though it has gained a lot of negative comments. Still, their songs give me quite a lot of inspiration, and make me sing along loudly. ‘The Drug In Me Is You’ is surely one of those songs!

Alexandra: While Manon’s song is more on the fun side, mine is a bit (okay a bit more) melancholical. I’ve seen Moonspell live this past wednesday (pics soon!) and this song just stuck to me...

Simple Lies

Recently I had a chat with 3 of the guys from Simple Lies, a hard’n’heavy band from Italy who are currently opening for Wednesday 13 (congrats, guys!). I discovered 3 super friendly dudes who made me laugh and who are not only talented but also humble. Check what we discussed below, and under the interview a song from them:

Alexandra: Could you start by introducing yourselves and your role in the band? It’s rare that I have more than 2 people together for an interview!

Alessandro: I am Alessandro the singer and I am in the band from 2010. I’m not a former member, but the other two guys are the founders.

Alberto: I am Alberto, the lead guitarist and I founded Simple Lies in 2006.

Lello: I am Lello the rhythm guitarist and I am also here since the start.

Alessandro: As genre we are play...
