Song of the week – part 6

Category: ArticlesSong of the week Comments: No comments

New week, and today marks the 6th time we will be doing Song of the week, our section released every Sunday with one song recommendation from each of us, based on what has been on repeat this week in our playlist. Here we go!

Manon: Last week I’ve been to the Bring Me The Horizon concert, which was one of the best concerts I’ve seen in a long time. One of their support acts was Beartooth, a band I had heard from before, but never really paid much attention to their stuff. Now, it has become one of my favorite bands. I have picked the song Beaten In Lips for this week’s song, as it had been stuck in my head for days! It can be a heavy song for some, thanks to the lyrics, but they also bring truth with them...

Bring Me The Horizon @ 013, Tilburg – 21.11.2015

Bring Me The Horizon (© Mikal de Langen)

Last Saturday evening I finally went to see Bring Me The Horizon live in 013, Tilburg, and I must stay that I have enjoyed it thoroughly. Of course, after all the events going on in Europe at the moment, I was a little nervous to go to the sold-out concert, but I haven’t regretted it one bit — and I felt quite safe as well, thanks to the security!

Beartooth was the first to take the stage. A fantastic opener, seldom have I seen such an energetic first pre-act to take the stage. Their sound was perfect. Their ability to play live should be admired, as they easily got the crowd to join them. When they asked to turn the whole floor into one giant moshpit, they obeyed. It was something I ‘ve never seen a pre-act do before...

Turisas @ Lutakko, Jyvaskyla – 21.11.2015

Past Saturday evening I was visiting Lutakko once more (it seems like it’s becoming a weekly habit) to attend an epic concert and take some (hopefully) awesome photos. This time the names on the poster were Barren Earth, opening for Turisas. Anyone who has ever heard of Turisas also knows about their attention to details which extends to a signature facepaint and also clothing to match their style. Therefore, I was very happy that I could be there because I’m always looking to capture cool details, and I knew there will be plenty of those! Without any further ado, check out the gallery below:

Song of the week – part 5

Category: ArticlesSong of the week Comments: No comments

This article has been gone for a couple of weeks due to other things that got priority in being posted, but we’re back with recommending some cool stuff for your ears!

Manon: This week’s pick is surely a song by Bring Me The Horizon, in preparation to the concert I’ll be going to on the 21st. BMTH has been on repeat this week, and a song that I’ve been listening to a LOT (besides their newest album ‘That’s The Spirit’) has been ‘Alligator Blood’. It’s one of their older songs, but one of their strongest ones as well in my opinion. This song made waiting for the concert a lot more bearable! I hope you’ll take the time to check it out, because Bring Me The Horizon was and still is an amazing band!

Alexandra: For me this week was filled with a lot of academic studying, which is usually whe...

It’s only been 10 days since my previous concert, but boy did I need this gig, both because of the desire to create some new pretty pictures but also for mental therapy. Diablo performed on Saturday at Lutakko, opened by Status Abnormis and it was an amazing evening! I’m not going to turn this introduction into a speech, check out the photos below and enjoy!

Íñigo (Quaoar) – Dreamer. Dreaming

Quaoar

The guys from Quaoar have a very interesting and eclectic approach to rock! I was lucky enough to receive an e-mail from them and, once I gave a listen, I had to have a chat with at least one member. Íñigo offered and this is how the conversation below was born, one evening on Facebook. I’m specifically not saying too much about them and their style, because I’d like for you to discover them through the interview below and the Bandcamp link posted under. Enjoy!

Alexandra: First of all I’m really curious about the name of the band and where it came from, or how you guys came up with it?

Íñigo: A previous singer of the band, back in 2002, was an astrology fan...

No. (2014). To watch Ralph Salati’s guitar tutorial, head over to: youtube.com/watch?v=Y2vTLBGYe7c

Ralph Salati comments: “It has been pretty fun and challenging to propose again one of my favourite tunes from ‘AYKM?N’ in the most detailed and meticulous way possible, still preserving the taste of a live performance.

“Channeling the unbridled insanity of SikTh and making music that sounds like PsyOpus pulled through the Van Halen back catalogue” (HeavyBlogIsHeavy...

Marius Danielsen – When big dreams turn into reality

Category: ArticlesInterviews Comments: No comments

MARIUS DANIELSEN

Me and Marius found each other on Facebook on Monday evening and we started discussing his new gigantic project (which is coming out tomorrow, by the way!) which involves around 40 musicians and a lot of fantasy elements. We discussed logistics of such a big project, inspiration processes, future ideas and more! For people who love metal operas this will be a treat and you can find a song below, under the interview. Enjoy!

Alexandra: First of all, could you tell me a little bit about yourself, where did you grow up and your musical background?

Marius: I grew up on a little island called Bolsøya, 10 minutes outside of Molde, in Norway. Molde is very known for their jazz festival, but the genre never appealed to me...
